Moving to another Belgian region: what happens to your service vouchers?

Service vouchers follow your registered address, not the place where the cleaning is done. As soon as your new address is recorded at the town hall, your account is frozen, then attached to the new region. Vouchers from the old region can no longer be used there: what remains is a free refund, as long as they are still valid — 6 months in Brussels, 8 months in Wallonia, 12 months in Flanders.

Do service vouchers follow my address or the place of the service?

Your address. Service vouchers are a regional matter, and the Brussels and Walloon portals set the same rule: vouchers can only be ordered for the region matching the user's main residence, as recorded in the national register. The address in the national register therefore decides the price, the validity period, the quotas and the tax regime that apply to you.

The place of the service decides nothing. Work carried out in another region may be paid with the service vouchers of your region of residence, provided the company you call on is also approved by the region where you are registered. This is where readers most often get it wrong: what matters is not the municipality where the cleaner works, it is the company's approval in your own region of residence.

Three regions, three regimes

Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders each set their own price, validity period, quotas and tax regime, with no coordination between them. An amount or a deadline read on a Walloon website therefore does not apply to a Brussels household, and the reverse is just as true. The three price lists, checked against the official sources on 11 September 2026, are on our prices page.

What do I have to do when I move to another region?

One step is yours: register your new address with your new municipality. The rest of the procedure runs without you. The three regional portals describe the same sequence of five steps.

  1. You declare the address at the town hall

You register your new address with the administration of your new municipality. It is the only act in the whole procedure that depends on you.

  2. The region informs Pluxee

The region notifies Pluxee of the change of address, and Pluxee automatically asks the new region for validation. During that period the profile is frozen and no service voucher order is possible.

  3. The new region validates the registration

The new region validates the address and the registration in its own system. That validation, and not the removal van, is what switches the applicable regime.

  4. You receive the confirmation

Confirmation of registration reaches you by e-mail or by post, depending on the region.

  5. Your profile is reactivated

The profile is reactivated and ordering becomes possible again, on the terms of the new region: its price, its validity period, its tax regime.

None of these five steps concerns the service vouchers you have already bought: those follow a separate rule, set out further down this page. If the system itself is new to you, our page on how service vouchers work explains the mechanism from the start.

How long does my account stay frozen, and what can I still do?

What the three regional portals share fits in one sentence: while the change of address is being validated, the profile is frozen and no service voucher order is possible. They go no further than that.

The Brussels portal does describe what the freeze leaves open, and that description is a Brussels one: in Brussels, a frozen account is not a blocked account. While it is frozen, your Secure Space stays open, you can manage your services and request a refund there, but you cannot order service vouchers; an order placed during that period is automatically refunded. The Brussels portal is also the only one of the three to put a figure on the duration: in Brussels, the account is frozen for about 7 working days after the change of address is validated. We found neither that detail nor that figure on the Walloon or the Flemish portal: if you are moving to Wallonia or to Flanders, do not build your schedule on seven working days.

Plan around the freeze, without over-ordering

The freeze lands at the worst possible moment, exactly when a home needs the most cleaning hours. So order your last vouchers from the old region before you declare the new address — but do not overdo it: those vouchers become unusable once the transfer to the new region is validated. At three hours a week, a household uses about 13 service vouchers a month.

Can I still use my vouchers from the old region after moving?

No. Remaining service vouchers from the old region are neither transferable nor usable in the new region, whether they are paper or electronic. The Brussels portal leaves one way out: a free refund, provided the vouchers are still valid. The Flemish portal states the same rule for someone leaving Flanders — a free refund of vouchers that are still valid, with no transfer and no continued use in the new region.

In Brussels, exchanging vouchers is no longer an option: it has not existed there since 1 January 2025. The last exchange requests were accepted until 31 December 2024, then converted into refunds as a matter of course. A Brussels resident who moves therefore does not convert Brussels vouchers into Walloon or Flemish ones: they get them refunded, then buy new ones in the new region. We checked that abolition on the Brussels portal only: if you are leaving Wallonia or Flanders, check it on your own region's portal before counting on an exchange.

  • Transferring your service vouchers to the new region: not possible
  • Using them to pay for cleaning once you are attached to the new region: not possible
  • Exchanging them for vouchers of the new region: abolished in Brussels since 1 January 2025
  • Requesting the free refund of paper vouchers that are still valid
  • Requesting the free refund of electronic vouchers that are still valid
  • Buying new service vouchers in the new region once the profile is reactivated

How do I get those vouchers refunded, and by when?

The refund is free, for paper vouchers as well as electronic ones. The only condition the regional portals set is validity: the vouchers must still be valid at the moment the online request is registered, or at the moment the paper form reaches Pluxee if you send it by post. The date you post the envelope does not count.

That validity period sets your real deadline, and it differs from one region to the next: 6 months in Brussels, 8 months in Wallonia, 12 months in Flanders, counted from issue for a paper voucher and from the moment an electronic voucher is made available.

Region of purchaseValidity of a voucherAfter the move
Brussels6 monthsfree refund while the voucher is still valid
Wallonia8 monthsfree refund while the voucher is still valid
Flanders12 monthsfree refund while the voucher is still valid

Two things the official pages do not say

None of the three refund pages consulted on 11 September 2026 sets an administrative deadline specific to a move: they state the validity condition and nothing else. We could not have it confirmed in writing that no such deadline exists, so we do not claim it. If your move already dates back some time, have Pluxee confirm your situation before counting on a refund.

None of those three pages says how much is refunded either, that is, whether the amount is the price paid at purchase or the price of the band in force at the time of the refund. Ask for it in writing if that difference matters to your budget.

Can my service voucher company keep working at my new address?

It can, if it is approved by the region where you are now registered. The official text sets that one condition: approval in the user's region of residence. It does not require the company to be approved in both regions concerned.

Milhomem Group is approved in the Brussels-Capital Region, in the Walloon Region and in the Flemish Region. A client leaving Saint-Gilles for Walloon Brabant or Flemish Brabant therefore does not have to change company for a question of approval. The separate question of the area actually covered remains: it is set out on our service areas.

In practice, tell your approved company before the move rather than after. The freeze on your account stops you ordering for as long as the regional validation lasts, and cleaning slots are planned ahead: the company needs the new address and the new date to keep the rhythm without a gap.

What happens to my specific quota after a move?

It is not maintained. The Walloon portal is explicit: the regions are autonomous in setting specific quotas, and a quota obtained in one region does not follow its holder into another. A new certificate has to be filed with the region of the new main residence, under that region's own rules — whether the quota concerns a single-parent family, a person with a disability or maternity assistance.

The quotas themselves have nothing in common from one region to the next. In Wallonia, a single-parent family can obtain 2,000 service vouchers per calendar year at €10.60, on request to the service voucher department of Le Forem, the Walloon body; that procedure only concerns people registered in the Walloon Region. In Brussels, the specific quota goes up to 1,000 vouchers a year at €11.40 for a person with a disability or the parent of a child with a disability, and 105 vouchers a year at the same rate under maternity assistance, while the ordinary Brussels ceiling is 500 vouchers a year.

Flemish specific quotas and what becomes of them after a move were not checked for this page, so nothing is written about them here. If you are moving to Flanders with a quota in progress, put the question to the Flemish portal before you declare your new address.

What happens to tax relief on vouchers bought before the move?

One region still grants tax relief in 2026: Wallonia, at €0.90 per service voucher, on the first 150 vouchers bought during the year. In Brussels, the tax advantage is abolished for vouchers bought from 1 January 2026, while the reduction stays fully acquired for vouchers bought before that date. In Flanders, it has been abolished for vouchers bought since 1 January 2025, and tax certificates will no longer be issued there from income year 2026.

The trap in a move lies in a Walloon connecting rule. The Walloon portal makes the tax reduction depend on the main residence recorded in the Population Register on 1 January of the year following the purchase of the vouchers — not on the region where the vouchers were bought. A resident of the Walloon Region who moves to Brussels or to Flanders during the year therefore has to check where they will be registered on that date before counting on the reduction.

What this page does not settle: the concrete effect of such a move on your tax return. No official source consulted describes the case of a taxpayer leaving Wallonia during the year. The FPS Finance decides those situations, and that is where you have your own case confirmed in writing rather than reasoning by analogy.

Does the price of a service voucher change when I change region?

Yes, and the gap shows from the very first voucher. The price depends on the region of your address, not on the company or the type of service. In Brussels, a service voucher costs €11.40 for the first 300 vouchers of the year and €14.00 from the 301st to the 500th, a rate in force since 1 January 2026; for a household, €11.40 up to the 600th voucher and €14.00 for the next 400.

In Wallonia, since 1 July 2026, a voucher costs €10.60 up to the 175th, €11.60 from the 176th to the 400th and €12.60 from the 401st to the 500th; for a household, €10.60 up to the 350th, €11.60 from the 351st to the 800th and €12.60 from the 801st to the 1,000th. In Flanders, it costs €10.00 for the first 400 vouchers and €11.00 from the 401st to the 500th; for a household, €10.00 up to the 800th and €11.00 for the next 200. The Flemish indexation of 1 January 2026 only touched the regional contribution paid to companies: the purchase price for the user did not move.

These amounts come from the three official platforms and were checked on 11 September 2026. They change the bill of a household crossing a regional border, and they also change how many service vouchers it is worth holding in reserve before the move. Ask for a free quote for your new address: it gives the number of hours and the number of vouchers before you order anything.

Questions we are asked

I am moving within the same region: do I have to do anything?

The official pages consulted describe the procedure for moving from one region to another and set out no separate procedure within a single region. The competent region does not change, since the regime depends on the region of your main residence. Declare your new address to your municipality, as for any move.

Are my remaining service vouchers lost if I change region?

They can no longer be used in the new region, but they are not lost while they are still valid: the refund is free. The validity period is 6 months in Brussels, 8 months in Wallonia and 12 months in Flanders.

Can I order service vouchers while my account is frozen?

No. The three regional portals set the same rule: while the change of address is being validated, the profile is frozen and no order is possible. The Brussels portal adds, for Brussels, that the Secure Space stays open so you can manage your services and request a refund, and that an order placed during that period is automatically refunded.

Do I have to change service voucher company when I change region?

Not if your company is approved by the region where you are now registered: that is the only condition the official text sets. Milhomem Group is approved in the Brussels-Capital Region, in the Walloon Region and in the Flemish Region.
